Whole-Home Water Filtration Installation in Las Vegas

Whole-home water filtration systems installed, assessed, and maintained.

About This Service

A whole-home filtration system treats the water at the point it enters your home, so every tap, shower, and appliance gets filtered water rather than just the kitchen sink. We install and service whole-home systems, assess what your home can accommodate, and maintain the system so it keeps working as intended. If scale, water spots, or the feel of the water are what's bothering you, that's a hardness issue rather than a filtration one — see our water softener installation page for that side of it.

Common Warning Signs

  • Chlorine taste or odor in tap water
  • Cloudy or discolored water
  • Sediment or grit at the tap
  • Scale or water spots on fixtures and glassware

Why You May Need This Service

  • Improving the taste, odor, and clarity of water throughout the home
  • Reducing chlorine and sediment at every tap
  • Filtering the water used by appliances and fixtures, not just one faucet
  • Addressing a specific concern about what's in the water

Our Professional Approach

We look at what you're trying to solve and at your home's plumbing before recommending anything, explain what a given system is designed to remove and what it isn't, and install it with the connections checked before we leave. Maintenance follows the installed system's manufacturer instructions, and we'll show you what that means for your system.

Filtration and Softening Serve Different Purposes

These are two different jobs, and it's common to expect one to do the work of the other:

  • Filtration targets taste, odor, sediment, and specific contaminants. It does not automatically remove hardness.
  • Softening targets hardness — the calcium and magnesium minerals that cause scale, water spots, and the dry feel of the water.
  • A standard carbon filter does not remove hardness minerals at all. SNWA notes that reverse osmosis is the filter type that removes calcium and magnesium.
  • Because hardness is a separate characteristic of the water, a filter can noticeably improve how water tastes and still leave scale exactly as it was.

Southern Nevada's water is very hard — SNWA puts it at 280 parts per million, or 16 grains per gallon, which it categorizes as "very hard." That's a hardness characteristic rather than a problem with the supply: SNWA also states that the municipal supply is treated to meet all state and federal drinking water standards, and describes home treatment as a way to improve aesthetic qualities such as hardness, odor, and taste. You can read that in SNWA's own words on its Home treatment systems page, with regional detail in its water quality FAQs.

So the starting question is what's actually bothering you. Scale, spotting, and the feel of the water point to water softener installation. Taste, odor, and sediment point to filtration. Some homes end up with both, because the two address different problems.

Choosing a System Based on Your Concerns and Your Water

There's no single system that suits every home, and what fits yours depends on a few things:

  • What you want to solve — taste, odor, sediment, or a specific concern about what's in your water.
  • Your water supply — where your water comes from and how it behaves at the tap in your home.
  • The system's actual capabilities — what that specific unit is designed to remove, and what it isn't. Not every system removes every contaminant.
  • Your plumbing and available space — what can realistically be accommodated at the point of entry.

We'll tell you what a system is designed to do and where its limits are, so the decision rests on the system's capabilities rather than on assumptions. If a different service is a better fit for what you're describing, we'll say so rather than sell you the wrong thing.

We don't recommend brands and we don't claim certifications or affiliations for any system. SNWA takes the same position — it publishes regional water quality information but doesn't recommend a particular brand or model — and its water quality reports are the place to look for detail on the regional supply.

What We Assess Before Installation

Before anything is installed, we look at the practical side of your home:

  • Plumbing access — where water enters the home and whether that point can be reached for a connection.
  • Available space — whether there's room for the unit and its connections where it needs to sit.
  • Connection location — where the system can tie in so it treats the water you actually intend it to treat.
  • Compatibility — whether the system you're considering suits your plumbing and your water.

This assessment is what keeps the installation straightforward and the expectations accurate. If something about your setup rules a particular option out, we'll tell you before you commit rather than after the work is booked.

What Happens During Installation

Installation is a planned visit rather than a surprise:

  • We confirm the plan and the location with you before any work starts.
  • Water is shut off while the system is tied in, so expect a period during the visit with no water at the taps. How long depends on your setup and the system being installed.
  • We make the connections at the agreed point, including any bypass arrangement the system calls for.
  • We check the connections afterward, restore the water, and confirm the system is working and that no leaks are present.

We'll explain what the visit involves for your home beforehand, including the shutoff, so you can plan around it.

Maintenance and Filter Replacement

A filtration system only performs as well as the maintenance it gets. Filters and media have service lives, and a system left past them does less than it should:

  • Filter and media changes follow the installed system's manufacturer instructions — the interval depends on the system and on how much water your household uses.
  • We'll show you what needs replacing and roughly how often for your specific system, so the schedule isn't a guess.
  • SNWA makes the same point in its own guidance: home treatment systems need to be maintained, or they can reduce the quality of your drinking water.

If you'd rather not manage the schedule yourself, we can handle the maintenance for you — ask about it when you request your estimate.

FAQ

Whole-Home Water Filtration Installation — Frequently Asked Questions

Straightforward answers to the questions Las Vegas homeowners and businesses ask us most.

Not by default — they're two different jobs. Filtration targets taste, odor, sediment, and specific contaminants, while softening targets hardness, which is the calcium and magnesium that cause scale and water spots. SNWA notes that standard carbon filters don't remove hardness minerals at all, and that reverse osmosis is the filter type that does. Since Southern Nevada's water is very hard, a filter can improve how your water tastes and still leave scale exactly as it was. If scale or the feel of the water is the concern, water softener installation is the relevant service.
